A symbolic, magical world. In his last opera, Mozart seemed to wander between dreams and reality...Tamino and Pamina, destined to be together, undertake a difficult initiation process under the guidance of Sarastro, a powerful wizard or mage. Against all odds they emerge victorious against Papageno, the local bird-catcher, who seems completely clueless to everything happening. They emerge victorious despite the efforts of the Queen of the Night… Here we see Mozart at the top of his colloquial game: the aura of fantasy, at once epic and farcical, only brings the spectator closer to the characters on stage. One can feel the composer's affection for his characters as he throws them into a supernatural world of magic, beauty and of course, danger...
